Islamic Festivals

If you are looking for a suitable gift for a child, the following two books might be just the thing.

“Islam” written by Khadijah Knight and published by Wayland gives a good introduction to the history and beliefs of Islam, and how Muslims all over the world live their lives. This book is full of information which is presented in an attractive way. Probably produced for use in schools (it is one in a series on World Religions), it is nevertheless an excellent bo ok for young Muslims learning about their faith.

“Islamic Festivals” by the same author looks at the Hijrah calendar and the important dates during the year.  I particularly enjoyed the quotes by children, explaining their beliefs and how their families celebrate the festivals. Once again this book is beautifully produced, and has some lovely photographs.
