Fasting - General Notes & Hadith

General notes on fasting

  1. Fasting is one fourth of Iman: The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) said “Fast is half of patience, and patience is one half of faith."
Al Quran,  Surah Hud.  verse 115: "And be patient, verily, Allah loses not the reward of the good doers".
  2. Every good  action except fasting will be rewarded from ten to seven hundred times but fasting which is only for the sake of Allah will be rewarded by Allah and the fasting man will have two joys, one when he breaks his fasts and the other when he meets his Lord, Allah Almighty.
Miskat-ul-Masabih Vol III page 514 hadith no 4
Same reported that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s) said “Every good action of the son of Adam shall be multiplied to ten times like it up to seven hundred times", then Almighty Allah said “Except fasting because it is for Me and I shall Myself compensate it, he gives up his passions and food for Me. For the fasting man there are two rejoicings, one rejoicing at the breaking of fast and one at the time of meeting his Lord and certainly the fragrance from the mouth of a fasting man is more pleasant to Allah then musk. And fasting is a shield.
