The beginning of the most distinguished Naqshbandi Tariqah

Now, it is important that we should know the beginning of the Exalted Naqshbandi Tariqah.  If we miss this it will be a great lack - an imperfection.  It is coming through our Grand Sheikh’s heart to my heart to speak a little about this.

When the Prophet, may the Peace be with him, was ordered to flee from Mecca and emigrate to Medina (the Hijra), he was accompanied by Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, and they came to the cave of Thaur.  When they had entered the cave, a spider came and covered the entrance with a web, and two pigeons came and sat at the entrance.  When their enemies, following their footsteps, tracked them to the cave, they looked and saw that the steps came up and stopped at the entrance.  They saw that they must have come to that cave and entered into it, but God knows, the entrance had such an appearance as though no one had entered it, perhaps for ages.

The spider and the pigeons that they had spied were angels.  If those people had attempted to put one foot inside that spider would have grabbed them, like an octopus.  And there were many jinn also ready.  Abu Bakr said:  “O Messenger of Allah, if one of them looks in here, they will see us.”

“O Abu Bakr, don’t be afraid - He is with us, not with them.  Allah Almighty with His Divine protection is with us, so don’t be afraid.”

They [remained] sitting in that cave, but those people were going around and coming back.  [In the end] they gave up and went away.

Then there was another scene.  A new scene was set up in that cave.  Allah Almighty ordered inspiration upon Muhammed, may peace be with him.  This was the first inspiration of the Tariqati ‘n Naqshbandiyyati ‘l aliyya.

Prophet Muhammad, may peace be with Him, was given the inspiration to say “Allah-hoo, Allah-hoo, Allah-hoo, Haqq” three times, and he was ordered to give it to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq.  Allah Almighty gave this to the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon Him, with His holy breathing.  Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, was wearing this power, and he gave this power to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq.  This is the essence of the dhikr.  All dhikr power is given to all Naqshbandis from this dhikr of Allah Almighty.  From Allah to the Prophet, then from the Prophet to Abu Bakr.

Then Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon Him, ordered Abu Bakr as-Siddiq to call all the Grand Sheikhs of the Naqshbandi Tariqah.  He called them from the spiritual world to be ready in that station, and all of them, all 7,007 Grand Sheikhs, were immediately ready there.  Allah’s Messenger, the blessing of Allah be upon him and peace, then ordered this inspiration for them, and Abu Bakr gave them this power.  Then Abu Bakr ordered all these Grand Sheikhs to call their mureeds to be ready - one million, or one thousand, or three million, however many there were, to be ready there immediately.  So the Grand Sheikhs called their mureeds to that station and they all came there, and the Grand Sheikhs gave talqeen (inspiration) to each of them.  This was the first inspiration of the Naqshbandi Tariqah.

If a person is not ready in that view, in that meeting, he cannot meet with one of the Naqshbandi Sheikhs, nor can he sit in association with him, or in a dhikr.  They must have been ready on that day with that meeting, with the Prophet’s spiritual power, and [that of] Siddiq and all the Grand Sheikhs.

We give thanks to Allah Almighty that all of us were ready in that meeting so that we are ready now.  This was such a meeting for the sake of Allah Almighty and for the sake of the Prophet, may peace be with Him.

This was the first dhikr of the Khatimi Khajagan, all together.  Shah Abdul-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani read the first Khatim.  Allah Almighty also attended that dhikr and He gave divine lights and divine blessings to all of the crowd.  We were there, al-hamdu li’llah.  We were ready.

Therefore, it is the first tariqah.  All the tariqahs reach to the seven heavens up to the station of Gabriel, but they stop there.  After Gabriel, the first step of the Naqshbandiyyah begins...   reaching up to the presence of Allah Almighty, as the Prophet, peace be upon Him, reached on his Night Journey, which happened one month after this.

Then all the spirits asked to accompany the Prophet to Medina and he gave permission, so they all have the virtue of emigrating.  We also have that degree.

Then Allah Almighty gave all the Naqshbandiyyah from His divine power.  Therefore none of them are going from this world without faith.  This is because the power of this dhikr - Allah-hoo, Allah-hoo, Allah-hoo, Haqq - returns on our hearts with no change.

In sha-Allah we shall continue, little by little, little by little, and we shall reach to that point where all these things we have been listening will become clear to us, and then we shall see them [for ourselves] also.

Rahmatu’llah tawfiq, bi hurmati fatiha

Malik, son of Dinar, said: Jesus, peace be upon him, and his disciples with him passed by the carcass of a dog.  A disciple said "What a stench this dog makes!"  Then he, (blessings and peace be upon him) said "How white are its teeth!".
