Raj Ashman passes away

Raja Dato' Seri Ashman Shah ibni Sultan Azlan Shah, born 28 December 1958, second son and third of five children to the Sultan of Perak, and by ijaza of the 40th Sheikh of the Most Distinguised Golden Chain of the Naqshbandi Order of Sufism, Sheikh Muhammad Nazim Adil al-Haqqani, his Khalifah for the whole of the Far East.

He had suffered an asthma attack at his home in Bukit Damansara , Kuala Lumpur, after attending the Zawiya on Thursday night for the traditional and joyful celebration of zikr, Haqqani hadra, salawats and Burda to complement the Beloved Prophet s.a.s.,  and passed away at 1:30 am on Friday the 30th of March 2012.

Raj Asham was appointed Raja Kechil Sulung of Perak on the 16th of March 2010, which made him the 4th heir to the throne of Perak Sultanate. He was a “peoples Prince”, loved by thousands, and always accessible and concerned with the well-being of his father, the Sultan’s subjects. He was responsible for restoring and instilling the traditional spiritual values of tariqat amongst his people, and laboured consistently and diligently towards this end, using beautiful and uplifting qasa’id and salawats performed by his group.

Raj Ashman leaves a wife, Noraini Jane Kamarul Ariffin, a son, Ahmad Nazim Azlan Shah and two daughters, Raja Eminah Alliyah and Raja Bainunisa Safia.

His remains were brought to the Ubudiah Mosque in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, for the traditional funeral rites and prayers before the burial at the royal mausoleum adjacent to the mosque after the ‘Asar’ prayers.

Our prayers deepest sympathy and condolences,  go out to all his family and to all those who knew and loved him and have been left bereft  of such a shining example of honour,  nobility and true humanity and compassion. May we find comfort from our loss in remembering his most beautiful and saintly qualities, confident in the knowledge that his destination is the highest levels of Paradise amongst those he loved so much, Ameen! Fatihah!
